What you need to know
Read a US-only catalogue snapshot of AI skills, locations, work modes and experience requirements, with practical guidance for choosing roles and clear limits on what listing counts can establish.
A United States AI job search benefits from a precise target: which systems you want to work on, the level of ownership you can demonstrate and the locations where employment is feasible. A research position, a production ML role and a customer-facing deployment role can all contain AI in the title while evaluating very different evidence.
This country report uses the site's US catalogue cohort and original job-search guidance. It is not a national vacancy census, employer headcount estimate or forecast. Tables describe the records represented at the stated capture, not every opening available to every candidate.
Read the country snapshot correctly
The US snapshot is selected from explicit country codes or recognized country names when codes are missing. Country is not guessed from a city: similarly named places exist in different countries. Contradictory metadata is excluded rather than assigned to whichever report has the closest-looking location.
Read the sample size, company-name count, UTC generation time and exclusion panel together. The catalogue creation-date span is not a span of employer posting dates. A newly discovered record can represent an older requisition, and a not-closed record still needs an availability check on the employer's page.
Skills mentioned in the same listing can overlap. Their shares therefore may sum above 100%, while the primary-specialization table assigns one stored classification per qualifying record. Differences in source coverage and classification can affect both views. Neither table establishes the relative value of a candidate or a guaranteed hiring outcome.
Compare locations and eligibility separately
Use the location table to find represented cities and metros, then check the individual office and attendance expectations. NYC and New York aliases group together; selected San Francisco and Bay Area aliases also group for discovery. Not every nearby city is automatically folded into a metro, and these groupings are not administrative or commuting-boundary claims.
Multiple-location records remain explicit rather than counted as a different vacancy in every named city. A US-remote label does not establish that employment from another country is allowed. Ask about the permitted employment location, office visits and time-zone coverage. Treat work authorization and sponsorship as separate questions requiring the employer's current terms and appropriate official information.
Do not infer a universal location pay premium from catalogue counts. The report does not measure housing costs, taxes, compensation bands or personal purchasing power. It helps identify descriptions to read; the decision to move or accept an offer needs additional evidence specific to your circumstances.
Understand role families before choosing a learning target
For an ML engineering role, investigate whether work centers on training, features, inference, evaluation or a production service. For an LLM or GenAI role, distinguish application integration from model adaptation and infrastructure. For RAG, inspect retrieval and evidence responsibilities rather than assuming the title simply means prompting.
Agent roles can include tool execution, permissions and recovery. Data engineering can include pipeline quality and source-change management. MLOps and platform roles may include release gates, monitoring and incident response. Research and vision roles can have different experimental or data-collection requirements. These are comparison questions, not claims that every US employer uses these definitions identically.
A stored specialization is a discovery aid. Read the complete responsibilities and identify the unit of ownership: a task, a component, an entire service or cross-team architecture. A title shared across employers does not prove a shared level or interview bar.
Use requirements to select evidence, not a keyword collection
Skill counts come from stored fields, normalized for case and selected aliases and counted once per listing. Requirements may still be missing, overly broad or differently worded. A rank is an observation of this sample, not a statistically established national demand ranking.
Take several suitable descriptions and mark each requirement as mandatory, preferred or contextual. Match important requirements to evidence you can explain: a reproducible experiment, a tested API, a retrieval evaluation, a permission boundary or a recovery exercise. Listing a framework name without describing a decision or failure case is weaker evidence than a smaller but well-understood implementation.
For entry-labelled jobs, examine support and expectations rather than relying on the label. For mid-level jobs, identify independent delivery duties. For senior roles, look for architecture, mentoring and operational scope. The report's experience groups use minimum stated years, not an inferred employer grade; unspecified data must not be treated as an entry-level requirement.
Read employer counts and compensation responsibly
The company table counts qualifying catalogue records, not employees hired. Case and whitespace variants merge, while related legal entities may remain separate. An employer can appear prominently because its postings are easier to discover or because the collection process reached it more often. Do not use the table to claim that the employer has the highest nationwide AI hiring volume.
Where a posting discloses pay, confirm the location, level, currency, period and whether the number is base or broader compensation. An advertised range is not actual earnings, a promised offer or a salary survey. The job-market report intentionally does not aggregate salary or turn absent pay into zero. Use the separate salary guide for a comparison method rather than mixing unlike figures into a market average.
A focused weekly search review
Keep a shortlist of distinct requisitions whose responsibilities and locations are feasible. Record the employer URL and the date you checked it. Compare required evidence with your actual work, then choose one gap that would materially improve your ability to perform the role. Do not fabricate experience to fit a numeric requirement.
Prepare a concise explanation of one system decision, one measured or clearly labelled synthetic result and one failure-recovery example. Use role-specific interview practice to strengthen reasoning rather than memorizing supposed employer questions. Track your applications separately: your response rate reflects your own sample and is not supplied by this report.
History and limitations
The first corrected-method request in each UTC month preserves a US-specific capture. Earlier mixed-country snapshots remain separate. These are first-capture records rather than month-end totals, so even future comparisons need a consistent interpretation and an account of changing collection coverage.
No hiring-growth or decline percentage is published. More records can reflect new sources, fewer closures or changed collection priorities rather than additional national vacancies. Use the report to investigate current role requirements and broaden a considered search, not to forecast employment or rank countries by career quality.

Methodology
AIJobFever first-party analysisAI-assisted original educational interpretation with AIJobFever first-party catalogue observations. The embedded country-v2 report is generated from country-filtered, published, not-closed records with required fields and URL-based duplicate controls. Unknown or contradictory country metadata is excluded. City aliases and selected skill aliases are normalized; each skill counts once per listing. Counts, capture time, catalogue creation-date span and exclusions appear in the report, which is cached for up to five minutes in normal operation. Collection dates are not employer posting dates. Not-closed does not guarantee current employer availability. This is not a national survey, vacancy census, hiring forecast or salary benchmark. First corrected-method captures per country per UTC month are preserved separately from legacy mixed-country history. No growth or country attractiveness ranking is inferred. Practical recommendations are editorial guidance, not measured hiring outcomes.
