About this role

Nestlé IT & Digital seeks an Expert Data Scientist (AI) to support Nestlé USA in a hybrid role spanning product management and technical engineering. The position frames ambiguous business problems, owns AI applications from definition and experimentation through deployment and adoption, and builds reusable workflows that help teams scale AI responsibly. Success is measured by durable business impact and adoption.

Responsibilities

  • Translate stakeholder needs into specifications, data requirements, success criteria and technical tradeoffs; identify failure modes and align teams throughout the solution lifecycle.
  • Direct AI agents across parallel workstreams, incorporate agentic capabilities into solutions, and turn repeated tasks into reusable workflows.
  • Design evaluation frameworks, conformance checks and monitoring to verify outputs, detect silent errors and sustain production systems. Diagnose data-quality and pipeline issues, including with agent assistance.
  • Work with global and regional teams to scale solutions, navigate enterprise approvals, document decisions and incidents, and coach users and teammates. Protect sensitive data and build for security, resilience and potential misuse.

Required qualifications

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science or a related field; 7+ years translating business needs into technical solutions with cross-functional stakeholders and driving adoption; 5+ years building and shipping AI/ML solutions adopted by users; 3+ years deploying and scaling enterprise solutions, including MLOps and cloud platforms such as Databricks and Snowflake; and 3+ years delivering production solutions using emerging technologies, advanced data or automation capabilities, or machine learning, with a recent focus on AI, GenAI, LLMs and agentic workflows.

Preferred, not required: A related master's degree or PhD; experience directing substantive agentic work and taking AI concepts to enterprise-scale adoption, ideally in consumer products, CPG, supply chain or commercial settings; and hands-on Python or similar engineering experience with LLM and agent patterns, including prompt interaction, tool or function calling, retrieval and handling non-determinism.

The role is based in Arlington, Virginia, and is not eligible for visa sponsorship. The approximate annual pay range is $140,000–$196,000; final compensation varies. Nestlé also describes performance-based incentives and a benefits package including a 401(k) match and healthcare coverage.
