Data Scientist - Jr.

Guidehouse seeks a junior data scientist to develop data and AI solutions for Federal clients. The role is associated with its Arlington, Virginia office and requires an active SECRET or higher security clearance. Travel is not required. Candidates must be able to support remote, hybrid, or on-site projects in the Washington, D.C. metro area; the posting does not specify a single work arrangement.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with clients to understand mission needs, gather requirements, identify opportunities, and design and deliver solutions.
• Use Python, SQL, LLMs, Tableau, and platforms such as Databricks to develop products and solutions. Automate processes with Power Automate when appropriate.
• Explain technical findings to technical and nontechnical audiences, including leadership. Support internal initiatives and business development through RFP, RFQ, and RFI responses and white papers.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical field and at least 2 years of data science, data engineering, or data analytics experience.
• Proficiency in connecting and wrangling data with Python; experience querying and wrangling data with SQL, designing ETL/ELT pipelines, using LLMs and prompt engineering, and developing and deploying AI/ML models in Python.
• Experience performing analytics and data engineering in a cloud environment such as Azure or AWS.

Preferred qualifications

• 3 years of relevant professional experience; Databricks experience; knowledge of statistics, NLP, RAG, APIs, and AI/ML model containerization such as Docker.
• Ability to create Power BI or Tableau visualizations and dashboards, automate processes with Power Automate, use source control and collaborative development practices, and work with graph analytics, network analysis, or graph data modeling.
• Ability to work independently, communicate results, conduct technical training, and identify client opportunities. Experience supporting the Department of State or other Federal organizations is valued.
