Software Engineer - SnowConvert AI

Snowflake’s SnowConvert AI team builds an AI-driven product for migrating data-centric applications from legacy platforms to the Snowflake AI Data Cloud. The product combines AI-based conversion with execution-level validation to migrate data, database code, ETL pipelines and BI tools while checking that the resulting systems are semantically equivalent to their sources and ready for production.

Responsibilities

• Develop foundational code-conversion techniques that automated AI agents can use to migrate complete applications quickly and consistently.
• Build robust data-migration and validation pipelines and automatic testing components.
• Design APIs that can adapt as AI capabilities change. Collaborate with the original SnowConvert team, the AI team and the FDE team, using feedback to iterate on prototypes and early products.

Ideal qualifications:

• Strong Python software-engineering experience focused on performance, reliability and distributed systems.
• Hands-on experience building agentic AI applications, particularly for computer control or code generation; contributions to open-source agentic frameworks such as LangChain or AutoGen.
• Deep understanding of distributed systems, API design and backend architectures, plus the ability to own projects and work independently through ambiguity. No minimum number of years or education requirement is stated.

Strongly desired:

• Go experience building high-performance backend services; knowledge of big-data transformation and ETL or ELT pipelines; and proficiency with tools such as Spark, Airflow, dbt or Kafka.
• Familiarity with streaming architectures, event-driven systems and asynchronous processing; experience optimizing large-scale data pipelines for performance and cost. Experience as a founding engineer who owned significant technical projects is highly valued.

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position in Menlo Park, California. The estimated base salary range is $160,000–$230,000, with eligibility for bonus, equity and a benefits package that includes insurance, retirement and savings plans, paid holidays, paid time off and parental leave.
