About this role
Rillet seeks an Applied AI Engineer for its AI & ML team to build production AI systems for finance and accounting teams. The role combines LLMs, agentic systems, ERP workflows and structured financial data to develop features used in a high-stakes financial domain.
Responsibilities
- Own AI features end-to-end, from agentic system design and model integration to infrastructure that runs at production scale.
- Develop reliable LLM applications for financial workflows, and build evaluation frameworks and experimentation loops to improve production performance.
- Partner with product and domain experts to identify useful AI capabilities within Rillet’s ERP.
Required qualifications
- At least 3 years in a technical role, with a strong foundation in machine learning and data analysis or backend systems; at least 2 years shipping production AI systems used by real users.
- Hands-on experience with production LLM applications, agentic systems, and offline and online evaluations.
- Python proficiency, comfort working across the full stack, strong product judgment, and an ability to tackle ambiguous problems with attention to user impact.
Preferred qualifications
Background in fintech, ERP or accounting software; familiarity with Python, Kotlin or TypeScript; and experience building AI systems using structured financial or transactional data.
Location and compensation: Candidates should be based near the New York City or San Francisco offices or be open to relocating. The hybrid schedule includes Tuesdays, Thursdays and one additional flexible day in the office each week; some roles may require more office time. Expected annual base salary is $160,000–$350,000 in both cities, depending on skills, experience, qualifications and role scope. The role is also eligible for equity and benefits.
