About this role
The Senior AI/ML Scientist develops predictive, prescriptive and generative AI solutions that turn structured and unstructured data into organizational decisions. The role combines statistical expertise, programming and data science to build self-learning applications and integrate AI into business systems.
Responsibilities
- Own delivery of large or complex machine learning, deep learning and generative AI systems. Design, implement and evaluate AI systems for production use.
- Apply optimization, recommendation systems and reinforcement learning to business problems. Lead algorithm development and testing, design experiments, analyze data and improve model performance.
- Benchmark methods, assess strengths and weaknesses, and develop prototypes and proofs of concept for emerging AI technologies.
- Consult business partners on their needs and provide technical guidance on predictive and prescriptive approaches. Communicate findings and recommendations to cross-functional groups.
Qualifications
A bachelor's degree or an advanced degree where required, plus at least 5 years of related experience; alternatively, at least 7 years of related experience in lieu of a degree. The role calls for statistical, programming, data science and software engineering expertise.
Location and compensation: Listed as Remote Flex - North Carolina, with additional Remote Flex locations shown. Blue Cross NC says its Hybrid Flex or Remote Flex arrangement depends on the work and distance from its Durham headquarters, and welcomes candidates in its approved U.S. states. The listed base salary range is $143,616.00–$229,786.00. The compensation package includes an annual incentive bonus tied to corporate and individual performance, a 401(k) employer match, paid time off, and health benefits and wellness programs.
