About this role
Spotify’s Personalization research team advances machine learning and AI to help listeners discover music, podcasts and other talk content. The Research Scientist will investigate new approaches to personalization, contribute to the research community and help shape long-term product direction.
Responsibilities
- Conduct original machine learning and AI research, focusing on large-scale foundation models and generative AI.
- Develop methodologies, models and evaluation frameworks for personalization systems. Design rigorous experiments to test ideas and validate research hypotheses.
- Publish research, give talks and participate in conferences. Work with cross-functional partners to identify long-term product opportunities, help set the research agenda and mentor colleagues.
Qualifications
- A Master’s or PhD in machine learning, AI or a related field, or equivalent research experience; 2+ years conducting machine learning or AI research, ideally in an industry or academic setting.
- A record of publications or contributions to top-tier conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML or ICLR; deep machine learning knowledge and experience in areas such as recommender systems, generative models or representation learning.
- Experience designing experiments and using real-world datasets to validate research ideas. The role calls for curiosity about user behavior, collaborative problem-solving and interest in improving music and talk-content experiences.
