About this role
Granted’s Automations pod builds agentic workflows for complex healthcare cases, including medical billing and insurance claims. This engineer will develop the intelligence layer behind those workflows, helping increase automation coverage, reduce the cost of serving users, and deliver fast, accurate outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Design scalable backend systems and APIs that support agentic workflows from case activation through resolution.
- Integrate AI models and work on prompt orchestration, agent frameworks, and model evaluation loops.
- Turn healthcare processes into reliable automations with Product, Engineering, and domain experts. Architect for scale and reliability, including transparent, seamless paths for human escalation.
- Help shape the pod’s technical strategy and mentor teammates as the team grows.
Potential projects include AI pipelines that identify, categorize, and resolve medical billing and insurance-claim errors; automated agents and backend services for complex case flows; incorporating healthcare knowledge into models and decision engines; and tooling to measure and improve AI performance in real-world use.
Qualifications
Granted is most excited about candidates with 9+ years of backend engineering experience, ideally building production systems at scale. The posting also emphasizes curiosity about AI, pragmatic technical problem-solving, clear communication, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and comfort in a fast-moving, high-autonomy environment. Bonus experience includes healthcare data, product engineering, ML systems, or web crawling.
Location and compensation: The role is listed as remote within the continental US, with New York City also listed. Granted strongly encourages New York–based applicants interested in a hybrid arrangement; local employees typically work at the Chelsea office Monday through Thursday and from home on Fridays. Full-time compensation is $150K–$225K per year, with equity offered.
