About this role
Wiley Research seeks an AI Solutions Engineer for its Business Management & Strategic Programs team. The role builds practical AI-powered tools and workflow automations that reduce manual work, improve decisions and connect systems across Research operations. Working with Associate Directors and a Project Manager in 90-day sprints, the engineer turns business problems into working solutions and rapid prototypes.
Responsibilities
- Design, build and deploy AI tools, automated workflows, web-based solutions and integrations involving SharePoint, Teams, CRM and publishing platforms. Support automated data flows, intelligent document processing and AI-assisted decision-making.
- Develop prototypes and minimum viable products so business teams can test approaches before larger investments. Deliver reliable, documented, maintainable tools with clear handoffs to operational teams.
- Translate ambiguous needs into technical requirements; contribute to sprint planning, estimation and retrospectives; and identify opportunities to automate low-value work. Evaluate AI tools and services for capability, cost, security and integration fit.
- Work with Publishing Operations, AI & Data Analytics, Finance, and Technology & Operations. Meet enterprise security, data-governance and IT standards, explain trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders, and document architectures and integration patterns.
Required qualifications
- 3–6 years of software development experience, with increasing focus on enterprise AI and automation tooling. Proficiency in dataflow programming or frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Caffe, MXNet or Cognitive Toolkit; experience delivering web tools, APIs or automated business workflows. Scripts may use Python, Java, C++, Go or equivalent languages.
- Hands-on experience with LLM APIs, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Azure OpenAI or equivalents, and with prompt engineering, RAG architectures, function calling and agent frameworks. Experience with automation platforms such as Microsoft Power Automate, n8n or Zapier and the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including SharePoint, Teams and Power Platform.
- Ability to define and deliver solutions without a formal specification, communicate clearly with non-technical colleagues and work iteratively as requirements change.
Preferred qualifications include vector databases and embeddings for enterprise search or knowledge management; MLOps practices such as containerization, cloud deployment and monitoring; experience in publishing or another content-driven industry; Power BI, Tableau or similar dashboard tools; and a related bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
