AI Solution Architect-Research Office Managed Services

About this role

Huron seeks a remote AI Solution Architect at the manager level to design and implement AI-powered solutions for client-facing projects, including work with higher education organizations and academic medical centers. The architect works with engineering teams, delivery leads and client stakeholders to make sound, scalable architectural decisions suited to each client's needs. Responsibilities

  • Design AI solutions across multiple projects, assessing client goals, system constraints and technical feasibility. Recommend scalable, secure approaches for cloud, on-premises or hybrid environments.
  • Develop shared architectural patterns, reusable components and design practices for experimental and production-ready initiatives. Guide decisions on data pipelines, model orchestration, APIs, observability and enterprise integration.
  • Apply traditional machine learning, generative AI, LLMs, embeddings, RAG and AI agents as appropriate. Work with orchestration approaches such as tool use, function calling and emerging protocols including MCP for agentic workflows.
  • Review technical designs, contribute to code and system architecture, mentor junior engineers, refine designs with stakeholders and participate in technology evaluations and internal best-practice discussions.

Preferred qualifications

  • 8+ years in software engineering or AI/ML development, including 2+ years in solution design or architecture; experience designing AI-powered solutions with machine learning, data pipelines or generative AI APIs.
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture and production environments; hands-on Python, AI/ML frameworks and API development; exposure to generative AI frameworks and agent orchestration tools; and understanding of Azure, AWS and containerized environments.
  • Ability to work in agile, project-based settings and communicate technical requirements to technical and non-technical stakeholders. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field is listed; advanced degrees or certifications are a plus. Azure, Google Cloud Platform or AWS certifications are highly desirable.

Compensation and benefits: Estimated base salary is $155,000–$175,000. The role is eligible for annual incentive compensation and benefits including medical, dental and vision coverage, wellness programs, a 401(k), paid time off and parental leave, subject to eligibility requirements.
