About this role
State Street seeks a hands-on AI and cloud solution architect for its Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Compliance Technology team. The role designs secure, scalable, resilient and cost-effective enterprise AI, cloud, data and application solutions in partnership with business, engineering, cybersecurity, risk and infrastructure teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead architecture from business requirements and current-state assessment through target-state and transition designs, implementation governance and production rollout.
- Design production-grade generative and agentic AI solutions using retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AI agents, model integration, evaluation, observability and guardrails. Define reusable patterns for AWS, Databricks, APIs, microservices, event streaming, data platforms and hybrid-cloud integration.
- Address security, privacy, availability, performance, disaster recovery, monitoring and operational support. Review architectures and production readiness; assess products and vendors for business value, risk, scalability and total cost of ownership.
- Guide and mentor architects and engineers, prototype and code where needed, communicate decisions to senior stakeholders, and identify modernization, resiliency and cost-optimization opportunities.
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or information systems, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience; at least 10 years of overall technology experience, including significant solution or enterprise architecture experience.
- Experience architecting large-scale AI, cloud, data and distributed applications. Hands-on knowledge of AWS Bedrock, S3, EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, IAM and PostgreSQL-based platforms; understanding of LLMs, RAG, vector databases and agentic AI.
- Experience with Python, APIs, microservices, containers, Kubernetes and event-driven architecture; familiarity with Databricks, data lakes, lakehouses, pipelines and enterprise data integration. Knowledge of application security, access management, encryption, cloud governance, DevSecOps, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, testing and production monitoring. Strong architecture leadership and stakeholder communication are required.
Preferred
Experience in financial services, banking, AML, compliance, risk management or another regulated industry; relevant AWS, Databricks, AI/ML, Kubernetes or enterprise architecture certifications. Knowledge of responsible AI, AI governance, model risk and privacy controls; LangChain, LangGraph, Strands, CrewAI, Pydantic, Kafka, Apache Airflow, Terraform, OpenShift, cloud cost management and legacy-to-cloud modernization.
The listed annual salary range is $120,000–$202,500 for the primary location; it may differ at another location. Benefits include a 401(k) match, insurance, paid leave, employee assistance and eligibility for performance-based awards.
