About this role
MassMutual seeks a Project Manager in its Data Science & AI Engineering team to deliver AI and data-driven solutions across multiple concurrent projects. The team works on machine learning and AI solutions, including generative AI and emerging agentic AI approaches. The role partners with data scientists, AI engineers and product managers to keep technically complex initiatives aligned and deliver measurable impact.
Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of AI and data science projects from planning through implementation, overseeing scope, budgets, timelines and stakeholder expectations.
- Coordinate technical and non-technical teams, clarify requirements, manage dependencies and translate AI possibilities into actionable project requirements.
- Lead Agile ceremonies, including scrums, sprint planning and retrospectives; drive accountability across teams.
- Anticipate challenges, identify risks and mitigation strategies, and maintain alignment amid changing priorities.
Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years in a technical field, which may include academic, research-based or professional experience.
- 4+ years managing technical projects in Agile environments and 2+ years managing complex technical projects.
Preferred qualifications
- Master’s degree in business, computer science, engineering or another applicable discipline; demonstrated success delivering data science, AI or cybersecurity projects.
- Advanced proficiency with Jira, Confluence and Agile frameworks; ability to turn technical details into clear plans and executive-level communications. Leadership, collaboration, adaptability and the ability to influence without authority are valued.
Location and compensation: The position lists Boston and Springfield, Massachusetts. MassMutual describes a hybrid model with at least three days per week on campus, remote Fridays and additional remote weeks. The stated salary range is $124,800–$163,800.
