LPL Financial seeks a Principal AI Architect to design, build and govern its centralized Enterprise AI Hub. The platform will give business domains a shared, secure foundation for developing, deploying and operating AI applications. The role works with Enterprise Architecture, AI Engineering, Security, Infrastructure, Data and Product teams to advance scalable, compliant AI adoption.
Responsibilities
- Lead the AI Hub architecture and define reference architectures for generative AI, agentic AI, RAG, MCP and multi-agent solutions. Govern model, agent, prompt and tool registries; an LLM gateway and AI access layer; MCP and A2A gateways; and audit, monitoring and compliance services.
- Architect secure access to structured and unstructured data, including abstraction and query interfaces, vector databases, knowledge stores, lineage, privacy and permissions.
- Lead experiments and proofs of concept, assess feasibility, performance and scalability, and turn successful work into production platform capabilities. Implement AI platform engineering, MLOps and LLMOps for onboarding, deployment, monitoring and lifecycle management.
- Set standards for agent interoperability and model governance. Incorporate identity propagation, RBAC, PII protection, guardrails, content safety and auditability. Govern observability, usage analytics, cost management and compliance reporting; evaluate enterprise AI technologies; influence strategy and roadmaps; and mentor technical teams.
Requirements
- 10+ years in enterprise architecture, software engineering, platform architecture or distributed systems; 3+ years designing and implementing AI, ML, generative AI or agentic AI platforms; 3+ years hands-on architecting and implementing AI/ML systems and data access layers, including platform services, integrations and POCs; and 5+ years with cloud-native architecture, APIs, microservices, event-driven systems, platform engineering and scalable distributed applications.
- Deep AI platform, data access and cloud architecture expertise, plus strategic thinking, communication, leadership, collaboration and architecture governance skills.
Preferences include AWS, Kubernetes/EKS, API Gateway, Bedrock, DynamoDB, AI governance and observability controls, vector databases, orchestration frameworks, Python, Java, containers, Infrastructure-as-Code and DevSecOps. A bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science or a related field is listed under preferences.
