About this role
Distyl AI seeks an AI Strategist to lead healthcare AI solutioning throughout the pre-sales process, from initial discovery to deal close. The role combines healthcare strategy, hands-on generative AI prototyping, analytics and executive communication to demonstrate the value of the Distillery platform and support new customer growth.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose prospective customers’ operational problems, research their organizations and industry, and identify high-value AI use cases across utilization management, care management, cost of care, claims, and member and provider communications.
- Conduct technical discovery after Account Executives initiate engagements; assess use cases, architecture and feasibility. Work with engineering and healthcare specialists to design solutions that address real workflows and constraints.
- Rapidly build Distillery demos and proof-of-concept workflows. Scope proposals with success criteria, timelines and resource needs; analyze noisy enterprise data to inform reliable solutions.
- Develop executive-ready narratives about AI transformation and ROI. Create reusable demo scripts, ROI calculators, competitive materials and use-case pitches; maintain pre-sales account documentation and hand off knowledge to the expansion team.
Qualifications
- 8–12 years of experience in sales engineering, solutions consulting, product management, technical growth, chief of staff or a similar business-and-technology role, with deep direct experience in healthcare payer operations, provider workflows or health tech.
- A technical undergraduate degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics or a similar field. Ability to code prototypes, analyze data with Python, pandas and SQL, and discuss system design and API architecture with engineers.
- Hands-on experience building generative AI solutions using LLM pipelines, prompt engineering, RAG architectures or similar approaches. Strong knowledge of healthcare operations and their regulatory, clinical and operational constraints; excellent storytelling, executive communication and comfort working in ambiguity. Ability to travel 50%.
- Healthcare-specific data-format experience is a bonus. Experience with NCQA, CMS guidelines or clinical documentation requirements is a strong signal.
Location and compensation: Hybrid in San Francisco or New York, with 3+ in-office days per week (Tuesday–Thursday). Base salary is $150K–$250K, depending on experience, location and level, plus equity and benefits including medical, dental and vision coverage for employees and dependents, flexible time off, retirement and financial planning support, and wellness benefits.
