About this role
Lenovo is seeking an Advisory AI Engineer to serve as a technical lead for the full agentic stack, from LLM orchestration, tool use and memory through production deployment, at its AI Technology Center in Chicago, Illinois. The role is full-time.
Responsibilities
- Design and ship agentic LLM pipelines supporting multi-step reasoning, tool use, reflection loops, long-horizon planning and memory.
- Build evaluation frameworks for agent reliability and safety across tasks; develop and maintain RAG systems, vector stores and external tool integrations.
- Deploy and scale agent systems in production, translate relevant research into working systems, and collaborate with AI engineers, ML scientists and technical product managers.
- Stay current with AI and ML developments and apply relevant research and methods.
Required qualifications
- 6 years of industry experience in ML or applied AI, with hands-on LLM experience in prompting, fine-tuning and inference optimization; a bachelor's degree in computer science, applied math, physics or a related field.
- Experience with NLP; fluency in Python and the modern ML stack, including PyTorch, Hugging Face and vLLM or equivalents.
- Proven experience with agentic frameworks such as LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI or custom frameworks, and tool-use patterns including function calling, MCP and structured outputs.
- Knowledge of RAG architecture, embedding models and LLM evaluation; strong software engineering fundamentals in Python and at least one other language; experience with Git, CI/CD, Docker and Kubernetes for ML deployment.
Preferred qualifications
A master's degree or PhD; computer vision experience; familiarity with Agile frameworks such as Scrum and Kanban; Rust experience for performance-critical inference or runtime components; and the ability to communicate technical solutions to technical and business audiences.
The anticipated annual compensation range is 168,100–257,715 USD, with final compensation based on experience, skills and business considerations. Bonuses and/or commissions may also be considered.
