About this role
Lead the Agent Intelligence function within Vertex’s Data team, building the reusable memory, personas, skills, and flagship agent experiences that ground and govern AI agents used by executives, researchers, and business users.
Responsibilities
- Design and operate personal and organizational agent memory, including continuity, retention, retrieval, conflict resolution, and classification policies.
- Define personas as code and oversee their versioning, review, composition, and deployment. Curate atomic retrieval, analytics, and action tools and compose them into persona-specific skills with clear contracts, a registry, and quality standards.
- Build and deploy flagship enterprise AI agents using Snowflake Cortex AI, Databricks AI, and orchestration frameworks; use those projects to improve the shared agent foundations.
- Set enterprise standards for orchestration, prompts, personas, tool use, response quality, and conversational UX, including citations, error handling, escalation, and transparency. Govern reusable prompt and skill libraries and their documentation and contribution workflows.
Qualifications
- 10+ years in data engineering, AI/ML, or advanced analytics, including 3+ years focused on NLP systems, AI agent development, or conversational AI. No specific degree is stated.
- Hands-on production-agent experience with LangChain, LangGraph, or similar tools; strong enterprise experience with Snowflake platforms and/or Databricks AI platforms. Ability to work across data preparation, prompt engineering, orchestration, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.
- Experience designing agent memory and reusable abstractions, operating highly available production AI systems, leading technical teams, communicating with executives, and translating business needs into solutions. Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, or life-sciences data environments is sought. Familiarity with clinical, regulatory, and commercial data is a plus. The posting also calls for familiarity with agent evaluation tools and experience in model fine-tuning, distillation, or post-training.
