01

Understand the role

What matters most

  • Strategic Advisory for Service Providers

Act as a trusted advisor to service provider leadership, translating complex network and operational challenges into actionable data and AI strategies. This requires balancing deep telecommunications domain expertise with the ability to articulate business value to executive stakeholders.

  • Solution Architecture Design

Design and communicate comprehensive architectures that integrate telemetry, observability, security, and analytics. You must be able to map these technical designs to specific business outcomes like incident response acceleration and operational efficiency.

  • Repeatable Use Case Development

Identify and document repeatable patterns across 5G, OSS/BSS, and cloud-native environments. Success depends on your ability to create scalable architecture blueprints that can be deployed across multiple customer engagements.

  • Field Enablement and Thought Leadership

Enable internal sales and technical teams through workshops and briefings while contributing to industry forums like TM Forum. You must bridge the gap between high-level strategy and practical field execution.

Likely challenges to think through

  • Bridging Technical Depth and Executive Strategy

The role requires shifting rapidly between granular technical discussions on network functions and high-level business transformation conversations. Prepare by practicing how to frame technical architectural decisions in the context of ROI and operational risk for non-technical executives.

  • Navigating Complex Multi-Domain Environments

Service providers operate in highly fragmented, legacy-heavy environments. The challenge is designing modern, autonomous, or agentic architectures that coexist with existing OSS/BSS systems. Prepare by researching integration patterns for legacy telecom infrastructure with modern observability platforms.

  • Demonstrating Value in Sales Cycles

As a technical advisor in a sales-aligned role, you must prove the efficacy of Splunk through prototypes and demonstrations. Prepare by being ready to build rapid, high-impact prototypes that address specific, immediate pain points identified during customer discovery.
