01

Understand the role

What matters most

  • Design of Reusable AI Platform Capabilities

The core of this role is architecting foundational components such as Model Gateways, observability frameworks, and AgentOps patterns. You must prioritize creating modular, scalable designs that allow various business units to consume AI services securely and consistently, rather than building bespoke solutions for individual use cases.

  • Architecture Governance and Stakeholder Alignment

You are responsible for navigating the enterprise governance landscape, including preparing and presenting proposals to the Solution Review Board (SRB) and Architecture Review Board (ARB). Success depends on your ability to translate complex AI technical requirements into standards that satisfy Enterprise Architecture, Cybersecurity, and operational teams.

  • Technology Evaluation and Feasibility Validation

You must actively evaluate emerging AI frameworks, cloud-native technologies, and vendor platforms. This requires a rigorous approach to conducting Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs) and pilot initiatives to validate that new technologies are enterprise-ready, scalable, and align with Singtel's long-term AI strategy.

Likely challenges to think through

  • Balancing Innovation with Enterprise Rigidity

The challenge lies in integrating fast-moving AI technologies (like new LLM frameworks or AgentOps tools) into a highly regulated, large-scale telecommunications environment. Prepare by demonstrating how you have successfully introduced cutting-edge tools while maintaining strict compliance with enterprise security and governance standards.

  • Cross-Functional Dependency Management

You will need to align disparate teams—including AI Security, Platform Engineering, and Business Units—who may have conflicting priorities. Prepare by highlighting your experience in facilitating technical consensus and managing the trade-offs between rapid deployment and long-term platform maintainability.

Practice your answers

Technical practice

Designing a Model Gateway for Enterprise AI

What to coverExplain the architectural considerations for a Model Gateway that handles multi-model routing, load balancing, and standardized API access. Discuss how you would implement rate limiting, authentication, and cost tracking across different LLM providers while maintaining low latency.

Observability Frameworks for Generative AI

What to coverHow do you design an observability stack specifically for LLM-based applications? Focus on tracking prompt latency, token usage, hallucination rates, and drift, and explain how these metrics integrate into an enterprise operational dashboard.

Architecting AgentOps Patterns

What to coverDescribe the infrastructure requirements for supporting autonomous AI agents in production. Address challenges related to state management, tool execution environments, and the orchestration of multi-step reasoning chains.

Model Evaluation and Lifecycle Management

What to coverWhat is your approach to building a reusable evaluation framework for AI models? Discuss the trade-offs between automated benchmarks and human-in-the-loop evaluation, and how you ensure these evaluations are integrated into a CI/CD pipeline.

Scalability in Distributed AI Systems

What to coverWhen designing platforms for high-throughput inference, how do you balance model optimization techniques like quantization or pruning against the need for model accuracy? Suggest strategies for scaling these services in a cloud-native environment.

Security and Governance in AI Platforms

What to coverHow do you incorporate 'Responsible AI' and security requirements into the platform architecture? Discuss strategies for data privacy, preventing prompt injection, and ensuring compliance with enterprise governance standards during the design phase.

Build vs. Buy Decision Framework

What to coverWhen evaluating emerging AI frameworks or commercial platforms, what criteria do you use to recommend a 'build' versus 'buy' strategy? Focus on long-term maintainability, vendor lock-in, and alignment with existing enterprise architecture principles.

Architecture Governance and Review Boards

What to coverDescribe your experience preparing technical proposals for Architecture Review Boards (ARB). How do you effectively communicate complex AI platform trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders or senior management to secure approval?

Behavioural practice

Cross-Functional Collaboration

What to coverDescribe a time you had to align competing requirements from security, operations, and engineering teams for a platform project. How did you facilitate the discussion to reach a consensus that satisfied all stakeholders?

Navigating Technical Ambiguity

What to coverTell me about a situation where you had to define the architecture for a new, emerging technology area with little existing documentation. How did you validate your approach and ensure the design was scalable for the enterprise?

Influencing Technical Direction

What to coverProvide an example of when you had to convince a team or leadership to adopt a specific architectural pattern or technology. What data or evidence did you use to support your recommendation and address their concerns?

Managing Operational Excellence

What to coverDescribe a scenario where you identified a significant bottleneck or reliability issue in a platform you were responsible for. What steps did you take to diagnose the root cause and improve the system's operational resilience?

02

Sharpen your knowledge

Topics to prepare

  • Enterprise AI Governance and Architecture Review

Review the principles of Solution Review Board (SRB) and Architecture Review Board (ARB) processes. Practice drafting an architecture proposal that balances technical innovation with enterprise security, compliance, and governance standards, as this is a core requirement for the role.

  • AI Platform Capability Design Patterns

Study architectural patterns for Model Gateways, AgentOps, and observability frameworks. Focus on how to design these as reusable services within a large-scale enterprise environment to ensure scalability and operational excellence.

Skills to revise

  • Designing Model Gateway and Inference Architectures

Develop a conceptual design for a centralized Model Gateway that handles request routing, load balancing, and security for multiple LLMs. This is directly relevant to the requirement for building reusable platform capabilities.

  • AgentOps and Multimodal AI Orchestration

Create a high-level technical design document outlining how to manage the lifecycle, monitoring, and evaluation of AI agents and multimodal models in a production environment, addressing the specific need for AgentOps patterns mentioned in the job description.

  • Cloud-Native AI Platform Implementation

Practice mapping AI platform components (e.g., model serving, vector databases, observability) to cloud-native infrastructure. Focus on ensuring these components are designed for reliability, maintainability, and integration with existing enterprise security frameworks.

04

Your preparation checklist

  • Prepare an architectural case study on Model Gateway and AgentOps

Develop a structured walkthrough of a past project where you designed a reusable platform component, such as a Model Gateway or AgentOps framework. Focus on how you addressed scalability, security, and observability in an enterprise environment.

  • Draft a mock architecture proposal for an AI platform capability

Create a sample document modeled after a Solution Review Board (SRB) submission. Include the problem statement, technical design, trade-offs between build vs. buy, and alignment with enterprise security and governance standards.

  • Map your experience to Singtel's AI ecosystem requirements

Prepare a summary of your experience with specific technologies mentioned in the role, such as multimodal AI, model inference optimization, and orchestration. Be ready to discuss how these technologies integrate into a cloud-native, distributed enterprise architecture.

  • Formulate strategic questions for the interview panel

Prepare insightful questions regarding the current maturity of the Central AI Kitchen (CAK), the primary challenges in balancing AI innovation with strict telco-grade security, and how the architecture team collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders on governance.
