Forward Deployed Engineer (AI Engineer)

As a Forward Deployed Engineer (AI Engineer) in Partners Group’s AI Pods, identify, validate and deliver AI solutions for a private markets investment manager. Build production-grade, LLM-powered products from discovery and prototype through pilot, production handover and wider adoption, using reusable capabilities and trusted, AI-ready data.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business teams to prioritize high-impact use cases, make buy-versus-build recommendations, and turn ambiguous problems into product scopes, roadmaps, iteration plans and success metrics.
• Develop AI-powered solutions, robust datasets, and retrieval and reasoning pipelines across business functions. Integrate vendor AI platforms and internal solutions where appropriate.
• Run rapid evaluation cycles and measure adoption, quality, business value, return on investment, cost and risk. Contribute reusable components, patterns and tools.
• Work with technology, governance, risk and security teams to make solutions secure, compliant, auditable and supportable, with controls for sensitive data.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Software Engineering, Quantitative Finance or a related discipline.
• Financial-industry background and understanding of financial markets, with at least 5 years of professional experience in traditional software engineering or a similar role. At least 2 years of experience building and shipping ML/AI products in production, ideally with measurable business outcomes.
• Strong Python or comparable modern-language proficiency; experience with databases and data platforms such as PostgreSQL, MS SQL or Snowflake; and hands-on ability to deliver LLM applications using APIs, system integration, testing and deployment practices.
• Enterprise or team-based software engineering experience, sound design and code-quality practices, familiarity with the software development lifecycle, version control and DevOps, and strong cross-functional communication.

Preferred

AWS certification, ideally AWS Certified Machine Learning Engineer – Associate.
