First VP / VP - Responsible AI Specialist, Innovation Group

About this role

The Responsible AI Specialist works within UOB’s Enterprise AI center of excellence to help ensure AI systems are designed, deployed and governed in line with ethical principles, regulatory standards and bank policies. The role establishes standards, processes and tools that embed fairness, transparency, accountability and privacy into AI solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain internal AI standards, guidelines and playbooks. Advise project teams on risk mitigation and embed Responsible AI requirements into ‘AI by Design’; serve as the primary liaison between business teams and line 2 Risk Management on AI matters.
  • Conduct risk impact assessments for AI models and applications. Address bias, fairness and explainability issues, and implement controls and guardrails against misuse, hallucinations and unintended outcomes.
  • Build a Responsible AI community of practice across business, technology, data, risk, compliance and legal teams. Lead awareness and training programs, guide ethical AI adoption, and engage with external forums, industry groups and academic partners.
  • Champion advanced AI and GenAI adoption through projects, MVPs and case studies. Explain AI capabilities to senior stakeholders and business owners, and track frontier models, regulatory developments and competitor activity.

Requirements

  • 10 to 15 years of experience in AI/ML through technical practice, product ownership, or risk or governance roles with deep AI exposure; 5+ years of experience with model validation methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of the AI lifecycle, LLMs, Generative AI, model risk, algorithmic bias and explainability, plus working knowledge of AI regulatory frameworks and ethics principles.
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills, including the ability to explain technical and regulatory concepts to non-technical audiences. Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Ethics, Law or a related field.
  • Desirable: Responsible AI or AI Ethics certification and experience contributing to AI governance bodies, ethics boards or industry working groups.

The position is full-time and hybrid in Central Region (City Area), Singapore.
