Understand the role

What matters most

  • Translate business needs into platform decisions

The role is the AI platform’s functional SME: define requirements, steer design choices and work with technology teams and vendors on delivery and enhancements. Prepare to explain how you would turn a business use case into platform requirements and resolve design trade-offs.

  • Establish a workable operating model

UOB explicitly calls for an operating model covering governance, security, compliance and operational efficiency. Prepare a concise account of how those considerations would shape platform design and day-to-day operation.

  • Enable production AI use cases

The platform must support onboarding of AI, GenAI and agentic AI use cases with data scientists, engineers and business stakeholders. The posting also requires a record of production deployment and knowledge of LLMs, RAG, agent frameworks and data technologies. Focus preparation on the path from use-case requirements and data integration to deployment.

  • Make the platform reusable and adoptable

The role develops shared libraries, frameworks and utilities, then drives user onboarding, training and best-practice adoption. Prepare to describe how reusable components can speed delivery without making them too rigid for different teams.

  • Improve platform efficiency over time

The specialist monitors utilization, performance and cost efficiency, and tracks emerging technologies for improvements. Prepare to explain how you would use those signals to prioritize enhancements rather than adopt new technology for its own sake.

Likely challenges to think through

  • Balancing control with delivery speed

Likely preparation hypothesis, not a reported UOB problem: governance, security and compliance requirements may compete with rapid onboarding of AI use cases. Prepare an example of how you would make that trade-off explicit and preserve a practical route to production.

  • Serving varied use cases through one platform

Likely preparation hypothesis: reusable tooling may not fit every AI, GenAI and agentic AI workload equally well. Prepare to discuss where you would standardize shared capabilities and where you would allow use-case-specific choices, drawing on the technologies named in the posting.

  • Aligning stakeholders across delivery boundaries

Likely preparation hypothesis: business stakeholders, data scientists, engineers, technology teams and vendors may frame requirements differently. Prepare to show how you would clarify decisions, explain technical implications to non-technical stakeholders and keep platform delivery aligned with business needs.
