01

Understand the role

What matters most

  • Find worthwhile AI opportunities

The role identifies opportunities in Operations workflows against productivity, quality, cost and risk. Be ready to explain how to map a workflow, locate a pain point and define what improvement would mean.

  • Turn use cases into repeatable operations

The posting calls for designing and supporting AI use-case rollouts, Standard Operating Procedures and playbooks. Focus preparation on how a proposed solution becomes usable in day-to-day work.

  • Drive adoption across teams

Demonstrations, training, onboarding and cross-functional coordination are explicit duties. Prepare to describe a practical rollout plan with stakeholders, timelines, follow-ups and status updates.

  • Measure impact and refine solutions

The role collects user feedback and performance data, then helps define and track adoption and impact KPIs. Prepare to connect spreadsheet or dashboard findings to a decision about what to improve.

  • Support basic AI governance

Usage guidelines, guardrails and documentation are part of the job. Ground preparation in the stated requirement for a basic understanding of LLM capabilities and limitations.

Likely challenges to think through

  • Choosing value without overlooking risk

A likely challenge is weighing faster workflows or lower cost against quality and risk; the posting does not identify a specific troubled process. Prepare a simple method for comparing candidate use cases across all four stated dimensions.

  • Moving from a demonstration to sustained use

Training may generate initial interest without making a tool fit an established workflow. Prepare to explain how onboarding, SOPs, user feedback and follow-up measures could work together; this is an inference from the rollout duties, not a reported adoption problem.

  • Coordinating across regional and local contexts

The Regional People Team governs local HR operations across markets, while this role coordinates cross-functional initiatives. A plausible difficulty is keeping a rollout consistent yet workable for different stakeholders. Prepare to describe how you would clarify owners, timelines and decisions without assuming any particular market-specific constraint.

Sharpen your knowledge

Topics to prepare

  • Operations workflow opportunities

The posting calls for identifying AI opportunities by productivity, quality, cost and risk. For revision, compare two hypothetical Operations workflows against those four dimensions and explain which, if either, merits an AI use case.

  • LLM capabilities and limitations

Basic understanding of LLM capabilities, limitations and common business uses is required. For revision, take a hypothetical employee-support question and explain where an LLM might help, where its answer needs checking, and when a non-AI workflow is preferable.

  • Adoption and impact measurement

The role helps define and track KPIs for AI adoption and impact. For revision, distinguish a usage measure from an outcome measure, then propose a baseline and a way to interpret a rise in usage without an improvement in quality.

  • Basic AI governance

The posting specifies usage guidelines, guardrails and documentation. For revision, review a hypothetical AI-assisted Operations task and identify what users should check, what should be documented, and when an issue should be escalated.

  • Regional People Team context

The team defines policy, leads company-wide initiatives and governs local HR operations; exposure to HR domains is a plus, not a requirement. As optional preparation, compare how a regional guideline and a local Operations workflow might affect an AI rollout.

Skills to revise

  • Map a workflow and draft a use case

The role requires understanding workflows and pain points and supporting AI use-case design. Practise mapping a hypothetical Operations process, marking its bottlenecks, and writing a brief use case with an intended improvement and a key risk.

  • Write an SOP and rollout playbook

The posting explicitly names Standard Operating Procedures and playbooks. Practise drafting a one-page SOP for a hypothetical AI-assisted task, including user steps, checks and what to do when the output is unsuitable.

  • Analyse spreadsheet and dashboard data

The role requires deriving actionable insights from data such as spreadsheets and dashboards. Practise calculating adoption and outcome measures from a small sample dataset, spotting a missing-data issue, and summarising one warranted next step.

  • Coordinate stakeholders and deliverables

The posting calls for cross-functional planning, timelines, follow-ups and status updates. Practise creating a short rollout plan with owners and dates, then write a status update that flags a delayed deliverable and the decision needed.

  • Demonstrate and teach an AI workflow

The role runs demonstrations, training and onboarding to increase adoption. Practise a five-minute demonstration of a hypothetical use case that shows the workflow, an output check, and where users can give feedback.

  • Turn feedback into an improvement

The posting calls for collecting user feedback and performance data to improve solutions. Practise grouping a small set of hypothetical user comments, comparing them with a KPI, and proposing one change to test.

04

Your preparation checklist

  • Map an Operations workflow

The role calls for identifying AI opportunities by productivity, quality, cost and risk. Prepare a clearly hypothetical workflow map showing pain points, a proposed use case and how you would prioritise it.

  • Walk through a relevant project

Prepare a concise example, if you have one, showing how you tracked deliverables, timelines and stakeholder follow-ups. State your own contribution and the outcome; use a labelled hypothetical exercise if you lack a direct example.

  • Design a small AI rollout

Draft a sample use-case brief, SOP outline and rollout plan for an Operations team. Include a demonstration, onboarding steps and a way to collect user feedback; present these as your proposal, not Shopee’s process.

  • Build a sample impact tracker

Use a small illustrative spreadsheet or dashboard to show adoption and impact KPIs, a baseline, and how feedback or performance data would inform an improvement decision.

  • Explain AI limitations and guardrails

Prepare a short account of a relevant LLM use case, where its outputs could fail, and proposed usage guidelines, review points and documentation. The posting calls for basic AI governance, not a specific framework.

  • Organise evidence against the requirements

Make a one-page reference sheet covering the stated degree and experience requirements, plus any verifiable examples of workflow analysis, data work, communication and HR-domain exposure. Mark gaps rather than inventing evidence.

  • Prepare questions for the People team

Ask which Operations workflows are in scope first, how adoption and impact are measured, who owns SOPs and guardrails, and how the regional team coordinates with local HR operations.
