About this role

Alltex Exim is seeking an AI Business Systems Engineer to build and run the systems supporting its trading operations and customer relationships in Surat. Working directly with the COO and teams across the business, the engineer will identify where technology can improve operations and take systems from design through rollout.

Responsibilities

  • Select appropriate off-the-shelf, low-code or custom platforms and tools; design and build operational systems that belong to Alltex.
  • Integrate systems with existing accounting, messaging, email and banking tools; automate manual and repetitive work, including through applied AI.
  • Build reliable reporting and dashboards for leadership, roll systems out across the organisation, drive adoption, and keep them accurate, documented and dependable.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years designing and building business applications, internal tools or operational systems. Experience building a complete ERP is not required, but candidates should be able to show comparable work.
  • Hands-on software development using Python and/or JavaScript or TypeScript, plus SQL; ability to choose tools and platforms and translate business requirements into working systems.
  • Experience building AI and automation into live business operations and ability to use AI tools efficiently at work.
  • Ability to own delivery from requirements to working software, work independently, and collaborate with or guide developers and interns as the team grows. Candidates should be comfortable modernising an established business.

The posting lists wellbeing, competitive compensation, performance-driven incentives, long-term growth and leadership opportunity among company benefits; it provides no salary figure.

01

Understand the role

What matters most

  • Turn business processes into system decisions

The role works with the COO and teams across Alltex Exim to understand operations, then chooses off-the-shelf, low-code or custom approaches. Prepare a concrete example of how business requirements informed a platform choice and a working outcome.

  • Build systems for trading and customer relationships

The engineer designs and builds operational systems that belong to Alltex, with ownership from requirements through rollout. The posting asks for comparable business-application work, not a complete ERP; be ready to explain what you personally built and shipped.

  • Connect tools and automate work

The systems must integrate with existing accounting, messaging, email and banking tools and reduce repetitive work, including through applied AI. Prepare examples that distinguish a live operational automation from a prototype.

  • Make leadership reporting dependable

The posting calls for clear, reliable reporting and dashboards, alongside accurate and dependable systems. Be ready to explain how you established useful measures and kept reported information trustworthy.

  • Deliver adoption, not just software

The engineer rolls systems out across the organisation, drives adoption and keeps them documented. Prepare an example covering the transition from a working system to sustained day-to-day use.

Likely challenges to think through

  • Choosing speed without sacrificing fit

A likely trade-off is faster delivery with an existing or low-code platform versus the control of custom software. Prepare to walk through decision criteria, constraints and how you would revisit the choice as operational needs become clearer.

  • Keeping connected information consistent

Integrating several existing tools could make discrepancies or failed updates hard to spot; this is a preparation hypothesis, not a reported problem at Alltex. Prepare an example of defining data ownership, checking transfers and handling failures so reporting remains reliable.

  • Automating without losing oversight

Applied AI and workflow automation may save manual effort but introduce mistakes in live operations. Prepare to explain where you would use validation, human review or monitoring, and how you would judge whether an automation is dependable.

  • Changing established ways of working

Modernising an established business across teams may require balancing a technically sound design with practices people will actually adopt. Prepare an example of incorporating user feedback, planning rollout and documenting the resulting process; this is a likely challenge, not a confirmed employer issue.

Sharpen your knowledge

Topics to prepare

  • Platform selection and ownership

The posting calls for choosing between off-the-shelf, low-code and custom approaches for systems Alltex will own. Compare those options for a hypothetical trading-operations system, explaining trade-offs in fit, maintainability and control.

  • Business-process translation

The role involves working with the COO and business teams to turn requirements into working systems. Practice mapping a hypothetical customer-relationship process from current steps to users, data, exceptions and acceptance criteria; the process itself is a preparation example, not a stated Alltex workflow.

  • Integration and data reliability

The posting names accounting, messaging, email and banking integrations and requires accurate, dependable systems. Sketch how an operational record would move between systems, then identify where duplicate or inconsistent data could arise and how you would detect it.

  • Applied AI in live operations

The role requires experience putting AI and automation into business operations and using AI tools efficiently at work. Choose a hypothetical repetitive task, explain where AI might help, and define checks for incorrect output and a non-AI fallback; these checks are suggested preparation, not specified requirements.

  • Rollout, adoption and reporting

The posting calls for leadership dashboards, organisation-wide rollout, adoption, documentation and reliability. Outline a rollout plan for one hypothetical internal system, including how users would learn it and how leadership would verify that its reports remain accurate.

Skills to revise

  • Build a small operational application

Using Python and/or JavaScript or TypeScript, implement a small internal tool that records and updates hypothetical trading transactions or customer interactions. Be ready to explain how you moved from requirements to working software; those languages and end-to-end delivery are explicit requirements.

  • Write SQL for operational reporting

Create a small sample dataset and write SQL queries that summarize activity and flag missing or conflicting records. SQL is required, and the posting calls for reliable leadership reporting.

  • Prototype a system integration

With sample data, build a simple exchange between your internal tool and a simulated accounting or messaging system; demonstrate how you handle a failed or repeated transfer. The integration categories are stated in the posting; the simulation and failure-handling exercise are preparation suggestions.

  • Automate and check a repetitive task

Automate a hypothetical manual data-entry or message-sorting step, optionally using AI, and test it against examples requiring human review. This rehearses the stated automation and applied-AI responsibilities without assuming a particular Alltex process.

  • Deliver a usable dashboard and handover

Turn your sample operational data into a compact leadership dashboard, verify its totals against the source records, and write brief user and maintenance instructions. This practices the posting's dashboard, accuracy, documentation and rollout responsibilities.

04

Your preparation checklist

  • Prepare an end-to-end project walkthrough

Choose a business application, internal tool, or operational system you built. Show the requirements, technology choices, code you wrote, rollout, and what you did to keep it dependable. The posting asks for comparable work, not a full ERP.

  • Show hands-on development evidence

Prepare a small, shareable example or code excerpt using Python or JavaScript/TypeScript and SQL. Be ready to explain the data model, a key implementation decision, and how you checked correctness.

  • Practice a platform-choice exercise

For a hypothetical trading-operations or customer-relationship workflow, sketch requirements and compare off-the-shelf, low-code, and custom approaches. State your assumptions and explain the trade-offs; the posting does not prescribe a platform.

  • Map an integration and automation design

Draw a hypothetical flow connecting an operational system to accounting, messaging, email, or banking tools named in the posting. Identify a manual step to automate and explain how errors would be detected and handled.

  • Explain applied AI in a live workflow

Prepare an example of AI and automation used in business operations, including the task, human checks, and observed result. Separately, describe how you use AI tools efficiently in your own development work.

  • Plan reporting, rollout, and upkeep

Sketch a leadership dashboard with proposed measures, data sources, and accuracy checks. Add a short rollout plan covering documentation, adoption across teams, and ongoing reliability; label the measures as proposals, not Alltex's current reporting.

  • Draft questions for the COO and teams

Ask which trading or customer workflows need attention first, what tools and data are already in use, who will support rollout, and how success and system ownership would be defined.
