Senior Data Analytics Engineer

MariaDB plc is seeking a Senior Data Analytics Engineer to join a high-impact team responsible for building foundational data systems and analytical pipelines. This role focuses on engineering robust, scalable solutions across the full analytics stack rather than traditional dashboarding. You will design and maintain data infrastructure, develop internal tools, and translate complex data into actionable business insights.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain analytical pipelines and reporting solutions using BigQuery and MariaDB.
• Write sophisticated, performant SQL for large-scale dataset extraction.
• Develop internal tooling and automation using Python and FastAPI.
• Leverage AI and machine learning features to augment analytics workflows.
• Utilize AI-powered development tools (Windsurf, Gemini, Claude, Cursor) to accelerate delivery.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to translate data into business action.
• Document data architecture, lineage, and information flow.

Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional experience in data analytics engineering, data engineering, or a related field.
• Expert-level SQL skills (joins, window functions, CTEs) with proficiency in BigQuery and MariaDB.
• Strong Python and/or JavaScript skills for building pipelines, APIs, and automation.
• Deep understanding of data architecture, schema design, and data flow.
• Hands-on experience with AI/ML, including LLMs, generative AI, and embeddings.
• Proficiency with AI-powered development tools.
• Excellent communication skills and a self-sufficient, proactive mindset.
• A public GitHub profile demonstrating relevant work.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with FastAPI for building internal services.
• Background in business process design or operational analytics.
• Exposure to multiple business departments (Finance, Marketing, Sales, Operations).
• Understanding of Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
