ITQ Data Scientist II

The Data Scientist II on General Mills’ Global Knowledge Solutions team will develop and deploy scalable machine learning and AI solutions for ITQ innovation, product development, R&D, consumer research, and quality challenges. Responsibilities

• Independently lead the full ML lifecycle, from problem framing and data preparation through modeling and production deployment. Build predictive models for regression, classification, clustering, and time-series problems; apply statistical and advanced analytics to structured and unstructured data.
• Develop scalable ML pipelines and production systems. Design AI agents using LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation, memory, tools, and orchestration frameworks; evaluate and optimize AI systems with custom metrics and feedback loops.
• Translate business needs into analytical solutions, communicate insights to technical and nontechnical stakeholders, and deliver projects against defined success criteria. Improve analytical processes and capabilities, stay current with ML and generative AI advances, and complete required organizational training.

Required qualifications

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field, and 5+ years building and deploying ML models.
• Expertise in feature engineering, validation, ensemble models, and neural networks; proficiency in Python or R and relevant libraries such as pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn. Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras, or similar frameworks; hands-on MLOps, Git, cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and production ML deployment.
• Strong data storytelling and visualization skills, including tools such as Shiny, Dash, or Tableau, and the ability to manage multiple projects independently.

Preferred qualifications

5+ years of experience, a background in statistics or quantitative sciences, and certifications in R, Python, or SQL. Applicants must meet the minimum age requirements in the country where the job is located.
