The Deployment Strategist (DS) role is a strategic position within the Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) team at Databricks. You will act as a product manager for the field, bridging the gap between high-value customer business problems and Databricks' technical solutions. You will own the technical and product direction of engagements from initial discovery through production launch and adoption. Responsibilities include performing deep discovery with C-suite stakeholders, defining Minimum Viable Products (MVPs), authoring Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), managing engineering backlogs, and leading technical delivery. You will partner with FDEs to shape solution architecture, ensure production readiness, and drive adoption. The role requires a combination of executive presence, product judgment, and hands-on technical ability. You will be expected to travel onsite with customers (typically 25-50%). Required qualifications include 7+ years of experience delivering complex, customer-facing data, analytics, AI, or software engagements, or equivalent experience as a founder or technical builder. You must have a proven track record of delivering data, machine learning, or generative AI systems into production. Technical proficiency in Python, Java, or SQL is required, along with a deep understanding of modern data and AI architectures. Experience in high-growth technology companies or forward-deployed organizations is highly valued.
