About this role
The Lead AI Engineer designs, builds and scales enterprise-grade AI and generative AI solutions in Pune, India. The role combines enterprise systems, data, APIs and modern AI technologies to automate business processes, improve decision-making and deliver measurable outcomes through secure, production-ready applications and workflows.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deploy AI/GenAI applications, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) pipelines, intelligent workflow automation, knowledge assistants and decision-support solutions.
- Build backend services, APIs, integrations and orchestration frameworks using large language models, model APIs and enterprise data. Prototype rapidly, then scale solutions for production.
- Use AI-assisted development while maintaining code quality, security, reliability, observability and governance. Define evaluation frameworks for AI quality, accuracy, latency and system performance; optimize performance, scalability, reliability and cost.
- Collaborate with business, IT, Security, Data, HR and Finance teams to identify valuable use cases. Create reusable AI components, frameworks and best practices to accelerate enterprise adoption.
Required qualifications
- 7–12+ years of experience in software engineering, AI/ML or GenAI application development, including proven experience building and deploying production-grade AI/GenAI solutions.
- Strong Python, backend development, API, system integration and workflow orchestration expertise. Hands-on experience with RAG, LLMs, prompt engineering, tool/agent calling, AI evaluation and observability.
- Experience integrating enterprise applications, data platforms and services through APIs and event-driven architectures. Strong analytical, systems-thinking and problem-solving skills, including the ability to turn ambiguous business problems into scalable AI solutions.
Preferred qualifications
Experience with vector databases, embeddings, semantic search and advanced RAG architectures; SQL, data engineering and data pipelines; integrating AI into enterprise applications and workflows; intelligent agents, automation platforms and AI governance frameworks; and building reusable AI frameworks, accelerators or enterprise AI platforms.
Education: BE, B.Tech or MCA, preferably in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field. The position is full-time.
