EDMO is hiring a Senior AI Lead in Pune to own and scale its document, conversational and data intelligence capabilities for universities and institutions. The role involves turning prototypes into secure, reliable production services, leading a small AI team and working closely with product and engineering leadership.
Responsibilities
- Define the end-to-end AI architecture and design multi-tenant, cloud-native services for performance, cost and reliability. Set standards for prompting, agent and tool orchestration, RAG, fine-tuning, evaluation and monitoring; translate product needs into technical plans.
- Lead document-understanding pipelines for transcripts, forms, financial documents, policies and knowledge bases. Develop OCR, layout analysis, extraction, classification, validation, summarization and retrieval over large document collections, with quality and latency evaluation.
- Architect chat and voice assistants for web, mobile and telephony. Build LLM-based workflows using tools, APIs, memory and business rules for student and staff journeys. Establish guardrails and evaluate conversation quality, containment, satisfaction and escalation.
- Oversee real-time and batch integrations with customer CRMs, student information systems, telephony and data platforms. Ensure tenant isolation, permissions and customer-specific configurations; help make institutional deployments repeatable and maintainable.
- Work with data engineering on models and pipelines; develop scoring, routing, prioritization and personalization based on behavioral and conversational signals. Define AI performance and adoption KPIs, and use A/B tests and staged rollouts to improve outcomes.
- Maintain uptime, observability and service health through logging, tracing, alerting, versioning, canary deployments and rollback processes. Coordinate with security and compliance teams on encryption, access controls, retention and education-related privacy requirements. Mentor AI engineers and data scientists, contribute to hiring, and engage with customers and internal teams.
Requirements
6–10 years in software engineering and/or applied ML, including at least 4–5 years building AI products, and experience taking LLM or traditional ML solutions from proof of concept to production in SaaS or enterprise settings.
