About this role
The Senior Data Scientist in IDFC FIRST Bank’s Data & Analytics department translates business needs into analytical tools and methods that support strategic decisions. The role works across teams to deliver data analytics solutions aligned with business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Scope and clarify business requirements and priorities; assess emerging technologies and identify opportunities for new data products, services and techniques.
- Research and apply AI/ML modeling techniques to customer segmentation, risk modeling, campaign targeting and other business problems. Build recommendation engines and propensity models for cross-sell and up-sell strategies.
- Cleanse, merge, enrich and transform data for modeling. Analyze large datasets for trends, patterns and growth opportunities; design scalable data structures and coordinate with Data Engineering on data quality and flow.
- Develop test strategies and systematic validation procedures. Check model accuracy, stability, performance and compliance with regulatory guidelines, while maintaining traceability and version control for datasets, models and evaluation pipelines.
- Explain model outputs to business stakeholders, manage expectations and evaluate digitization and innovation opportunities. Success is measured by the development and deployment of analytical tools and delivery of business use cases through analytics solutions.
Qualifications and attributes:
- 4 to 10 years of relevant experience in data analytics, data science or related fields.
- Listed undergraduate qualifications: B.Sc, B.Tech or BCA. Listed postgraduate qualifications: M.Sc, M.Tech, MCA or MA in Economics or Statistics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; experience designing scalable data structures and analytics solutions; familiarity with emerging technologies and data science tools; proficiency in test strategy development and performance validation; and strong stakeholder management, strategic thinking, communication and collaboration skills.
