Lead D&T Data Scientist

General Mills is seeking a Lead Data Scientist to join their Digital and Technology team in Mumbai. This role is responsible for shaping AI and machine learning strategies, managing model development projects, and mentoring a team of data scientists. The position requires a strategic mindset to align AI initiatives with business objectives and a hands-on approach to technical implementation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement AI/ML strategies and evaluate new tools to enhance capabilities.
• Partner with business stakeholders to deliver intelligent solutions and insights.
• Lead the end-to-end development life cycle of machine learning models from ideation to production deployment.
• Collaborate with ML and systems engineers to ensure scalable, optimized model deployment and proactive post-production performance management.
• Mentor and guide data scientists, fostering a collaborative and innovative team environment.
• Conduct explorations for new AI techniques, platforms, and tools.

Required Qualifications

• Overall 12+ years of industry experience, with at least 8 years specifically in providing data science solutions.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology.
• Proven expertise in supervised ML algorithms, optimization, and performance tuning.
• Technical proficiency in Google Cloud Platform (Vertex AI, BQ, Composer, Cloud Storage), Python, SQL, Spark, and Tensorflow.
• Experience with MLOps, containerization, data lineage, and visualization.
• Strong stakeholder management and storytelling skills.
• Experience working with Agile development methodology.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in the CPG or Retail industry.
• Publications or contributions to the data science and AI community.
• Relevant certifications in AI or machine learning.
