This role focuses on establishing engineering fundamentals for the Copilot+ PC brand, blending edge AI capabilities with cloud scale. Responsibilities include people leadership, setting technical direction, and driving AI-forward engineering practices. You will coach engineers, align technical plans with product stakeholders, and ensure operational excellence through rigorous testing, CI/CD, and incident response. A key focus is championing AI-assisted workflows, establishing guardrails for responsible AI use, and leveraging telemetry to drive long-term Windows enhancements. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field, 12+ years of experience in AI/ML software or systems engineering, and 4+ years of people management experience. You must possess a strong technical background in systems, platform, and on-device AI, with deep familiarity with Windows architecture, OS fundamentals, and implementing Execution Providers within ONNX Runtime. A proven track record of collaborating with model training and fine-tuning teams is essential. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days per week in-office. Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft security screening requirements, including a Microsoft Cloud background check.
