About this role
Nextpower seeks a Data Scientist I for its India team in a hybrid role based in Hyderabad, Telangana. The position combines data science, operational analytics and project coordination to support utility-scale solar plant monitoring, fleet intelligence, customer reporting and Availability Guarantee programs.
Responsibilities
- Analyze large-scale operational time-series data and investigate fleet performance, tracker behavior, sensor anomalies, connectivity issues, weather events and operational failures. Support development and validation of algorithms for device availability, connectivity, faults, sensor analytics and predictive operational analytics.
- Build Python analytics workflows, scripts and automation pipelines; use cloud-scale platforms such as Databricks and Azure. Clean and validate datasets, investigate trends and anomalies, develop dashboards and visualizations, and support data-driven root cause analysis.
- Produce and automate customer-facing operational reports, executive dashboards, technical summaries and presentations. Help define KPIs, validate metrics and improve the standardization and scalability of analytics workflows.
- Coordinate Availability Guarantee and analytics initiatives across technical services, asset management, engineering, field operations, and sales and customer success teams. Track timelines, dependencies, deliverables and follow-ups; help manage Jira boards, sprints, backlogs and priorities.
Required qualifications
A bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, industrial engineering, information systems, business analytics or a related quantitative discipline; 1–3 years of professional experience in data science, analytics, data engineering, operational analytics, technical program management or a related field. Strong Python, SQL and PySpark skills; experience with large time-series datasets and libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, SciPy and scikit-learn; statistical analysis, dashboards and visualization; and strong debugging, independent task management, project coordination and communication skills are required.
Preferred qualifications
A master’s or Ph.D.; renewable energy or solar operational performance experience; Databricks on Azure and Power BI; and familiarity with PVsyst, pvlib, NREL SAM, SCADA/DAS monitoring, remote communications, solar performance metrics and solar resource and equipment fundamentals.
