AI Engineer – GenAI & Agentic AI

Kitron India seeks an AI Engineer – GenAI & Agentic AI in Chennai to develop practical AI applications and proofs of concept for business, operations, engineering and manufacturing use cases. The application deadline is 28 October 2026.

Responsibilities

• Build generative AI solutions using LLMs such as GPT, Claude, Gemini, Llama and Phi; develop retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) solutions using company documents, databases and enterprise knowledge.
• Design AI agents and multi-step workflows for business tasks, decision-making and tool or API use. Incorporate human validation, approval and exception handling.
• Integrate solutions with REST APIs, databases and enterprise applications. Develop backend services, data-processing workflows and supporting APIs; deploy containerized applications in cloud or on-premise environments.
• Conduct feasibility studies, rapid prototyping, testing and deployment. Evaluate accuracy, reliability, performance, cost and security; prepare solution architecture, technical documentation and POC/evaluation reports. Collaborate with business, IT, software and engineering teams and explore emerging AI models and frameworks.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Electronics, IT or a related field, plus 2–5 years of experience in AI engineering, software engineering, Generative AI or related application development.
• Strong Python and software development skills; practical experience with LLMs, RAG, embeddings, vector databases, semantic search and knowledge retrieval. Experience building agents, agentic workflows, tool/function calling or multi-step AI applications, using Microsoft Agent Framework, Semantic Kernel, LangGraph or equivalent.
• Strong REST API, SQL database and systems-integration experience; experience with Git, Docker, Linux, CI/CD and cloud or on-premise deployment. Understand AI evaluation, structured outputs, prompt engineering, hallucination mitigation and responsible AI. Be able to independently take use cases from assessment and architecture through POC, evaluation and deployment, communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders, and continue learning emerging technologies.

Preferred or advantageous: Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Foundry or Azure OpenAI is preferred. Exposure to computer vision, manufacturing, engineering, automation or robotics is an added advantage.
