Senior AI Engineer - Cybersecurity

The Senior AI Engineer – Cybersecurity at United Airlines will play a critical role in maturing AI security capabilities within the Digital Technology team. This position focuses on designing secure and governed AI implementations across identity, application, cloud, and security operations. You will partner with IT, Product, and Engineering teams to ensure AI-driven tools operate securely and safely, shaping scalable architectures that enhance cyber resilience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement AI security controls for enterprise AI use cases and platforms.
• Define and operationalize controls including AI security gateways, policy enforcement, usage monitoring, and guardrails to mitigate risks like prompt injection, data leakage, and shadow AI.
• Architect SASE/SSE frameworks and Zero Trust Network Access solutions.
• Establish secure integration patterns for AI with enterprise systems such as SIEM, CI/CD pipelines, and identity providers.
• Lead threat modeling, architecture reviews, and security-by-design assessments for AI-enabled applications.
• Implement DLP strategies and context-aware access controls.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree.
• 4+ years of technical experience in Cybersecurity.
• 1-2+ years working with AI/ML/LLM-based systems or securing AI applications.
• Strong understanding of AI security risks, governance practices, and Zero Trust principles.
• Proficiency in IAM, Application Security, Cloud Security, and GRC.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree.
• 5+ years of cyber security experience, including 3+ years of production-level coding in Python, Go, or JavaScript.
• Certifications such as CISSP, CCSP, ISSAP, ISSEP, CISM, CRISC, CEH, or GIAC.
• Knowledge of standards like OWASP Top 10 for LLM, NIST AI RMF, ISO/IEC 42001, and MITRE ATLAS.
