01

Understand the role

What matters most

  • Architecting Scalable Agentic Systems

The role requires designing end-to-end enterprise GenAI solutions, specifically focusing on multi-agent orchestration, autonomous task execution, and complex RAG pipelines. You must demonstrate the ability to define design standards for agent communication, task routing, and lifecycle management that can be deployed across diverse client environments.

  • Operationalizing GenAI (LLMOps)

Beyond development, you are responsible for establishing observability, testing, and production standards. This includes implementing telemetry, automated regression testing, and monitoring to ensure reliability, latency management, and cost efficiency in production-grade environments.

  • Technical Leadership and Mentorship

As a Manager, you must guide engineering teams through architecture reviews and code-level guidance. You are expected to bridge the gap between complex AI concepts and practical business outcomes, ensuring that technical choices align with cloud-native infrastructure and enterprise security requirements.

Likely challenges to think through

  • Balancing Innovation with Enterprise Constraints

You will face the challenge of implementing cutting-edge agentic frameworks (like LangGraph or CrewAI) while adhering to strict enterprise governance, security, and compliance policies. Prepare by articulating how you manage defense-in-depth strategies against LLM-specific risks like prompt injection and data exfiltration within a corporate framework.

  • Managing Multi-Agent Complexity and Interoperability

Scaling agentic systems requires managing agent-to-agent (A2A) communication and interoperability protocols like MCP. The difficulty lies in maintaining system stability as the number of agents and tool-use chains grows. Prepare by discussing your approach to modular architecture, shared tool registries, and debugging complex, non-deterministic agent workflows.

Sharpen your knowledge

Topics to prepare

  • Agentic System Architecture

Focus on designing multi-agent orchestration, autonomous task execution, and communication protocols. Exercise: Draft a high-level architecture diagram for a multi-agent system that handles complex customer support queries, defining how agents route tasks and share tools. This is critical for the role's focus on defining enterprise-grade agentic design standards.

  • LLM Security and Defense-in-Depth

Understand risks like prompt injection, jailbreaking, and data exfiltration. Exercise: Create a threat model for a RAG-based application, identifying potential vulnerabilities at the retrieval and generation stages and proposing specific mitigation strategies (e.g., input sanitization, output filtering). This aligns with the requirement to implement robust security safeguards.

  • Advanced RAG Architectures

Study Graph RAG, hybrid search, and vectorless retrieval methods. Exercise: Compare the trade-offs between standard vector-based RAG and Graph RAG in terms of latency, accuracy, and complexity for a knowledge-heavy enterprise use case. This is essential for the role's responsibility to architect end-to-end GenAI solutions.

Skills to revise

  • Agentic Framework Proficiency

Gain hands-on experience with LangGraph, CrewAI, or AutoGen. Exercise: Build a simple multi-agent workflow where one agent researches a topic and another summarizes it, using LangGraph to manage the state and transitions. This directly addresses the requirement for expertise in these specific orchestration frameworks.

  • LLMOps and Observability

Implement telemetry and monitoring for AI pipelines using tools like LangSmith or Langfuse. Exercise: Set up a basic observability dashboard for a RAG pipeline that tracks latency, token usage, and retrieval quality metrics. This is vital for the role's mandate to establish operational standards and production SLAs.

  • Cloud-Native AI Deployment

Master containerization and orchestration on platforms like Azure AI Foundry or Amazon Bedrock. Exercise: Create a Dockerfile for a Python-based LLM application and define a Kubernetes deployment manifest to manage scaling. This is necessary for the role's focus on scalable, production-grade deployments.
