About this role
The Engineering Manager - Agentic AI will lead a team responsible for building a shared platform capability that enables product teams to create reliable AI-powered workflows. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines line management with direct technical contributions to shape the platform's architecture and production foundations. Responsibilities include:
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead and develop the Agentic AI engineering team through coaching, performance management, and career development.
- Contribute directly to the design, implementation, and operation of the shared Agentic AI platform.
- Establish engineering practices for reliability, security, observability, evaluation, and performance.
- Collaborate with product engineering, architecture, and security teams to translate shared needs into reusable platform capabilities.
- Support product teams in taking domain-specific agentic capabilities from exploration to production.
Required Qualifications
- Strong production software engineering experience in Python, TypeScript, Java, or similar languages.
- Demonstrated experience in leading and developing engineers, including line management and coaching.
- Experience building platforms, APIs, or shared services used by multiple teams.
- Practical experience designing or building production AI systems using LLMs, tool use, or agentic workflows.
- Ability to balance platform coherence with product-specific domain requirements.
- Excellent communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, AI, or related fields.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in packaging graphics, prepress, CAD, or the graphic arts industry.
- Experience building or operating multi-tenant SaaS or cloud platform capabilities.
- Knowledge of AI evaluation, security controls, and governance for agentic systems.
This role is flexible and can be performed remotely, in a hybrid capacity, or based at an Esko location worldwide.
