Data Scientist I

The Data Scientist I develops AI-powered features for Alegeus healthcare products in Bangalore, India. The role focuses on connecting reusable AI services to product workflows, including intelligent automation for claims extraction.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with product-domain and foundational AI teams to deliver AI-powered features. Design APIs and integration layers that connect AI capabilities with healthcare workflows, and use services such as OpenAI-based extractors and chat tools to accelerate development.
• Build production-quality software with C#.NET, JavaScript, and REST/SOAP APIs, following practices for code quality, testing, deployment, and documentation.
• Work with Product Managers, Architects, and Data Scientists on goals and deliverables. Participate in agile sprints, planning, retrospectives, and demos.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience in enterprise or SaaS environments. Strong C#.NET and JavaScript programming skills and proficiency in building and consuming RESTful and SOAP APIs.
• Familiarity with AI/ML technologies, including large language models, prompt engineering, and service orchestration. Hands-on experience building or integrating backend services, working with data APIs or pipelines, and deploying to Azure, AWS, or GCP using CI/CD practices.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred qualifications

React or Angular experience; experience integrating OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or Hugging Face services and working with document extraction, chatbots, or NLP workflows. Healthcare IT experience, including claims processing or HL7 or FHIR standards, is a plus.
