The Buyer Risk Prevention (BRP) team at Amazon is seeking an Applied Scientist II to design, develop, and deploy advanced algorithmic systems to protect customers and ensure a trusted eCommerce experience. You will own end-to-end machine learning problems, from problem formulation to production deployment, while leveraging emerging technologies like Generative AI and LLMs to combat fraud. Responsibilities: - Own end-to-end development of ML models for large-scale risk management. - Analyze historical and real-time data to identify fraud patterns. - Design, validate, and deploy innovative models to production. - Apply GenAI/LLM technologies to automate risk evaluation. - Collaborate with software engineering teams for scalable, real-time solutions. - Partner with business stakeholders to translate risk insights into impact. - Establish automated processes for model experimentation, validation, and monitoring. - Research and implement novel ML and statistical methodologies. Required Qualifications: - 3+ years of experience building models for business applications. - PhD or Master's degree. - Proven experience in patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals. - Proficiency in Java, C++, or Python. - Strong background in algorithms, data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, and distributed/high-performance computing. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with Unix/Linux environments. - Professional software development and delivery experience.
