01

Understand the role

What matters most

  • Development of Agentic AI Platform Capabilities

The core responsibility is building and maintaining the infrastructure for agentic AI, specifically focusing on Model Context Protocol (MCP) tooling and Agent-to-Agent (A2A) communication patterns like discovery and task delegation. You must demonstrate proficiency in integrating these components into a cohesive, functional platform.

  • Platform Reliability and Performance Engineering

You are expected to ensure the quality and stability of platform services. This requires hands-on experience with performance testing, troubleshooting API issues, and a commitment to growing skills in scalability and reliability engineering to support enterprise-grade workloads.

  • Infrastructure Automation and CI/CD Operations

Maintaining the platform requires robust CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation, preferably using Azure DevOps. You must be capable of deploying and operating agent workloads efficiently while adhering to established engineering methods.

  • API Security and Governance

Implementing and maintaining secure communication is critical. You must apply standard API security practices, including OAuth 2.0, SSO, and authentication flows, to protect the platform and its agentic interactions.

Likely challenges to think through

  • Managing Complexity in Agentic Workflows

Agent-to-Agent communication and MCP lifecycle management are evolving fields. You may face difficulty in debugging non-deterministic agent behaviors or complex delegation chains. Prepare by reviewing how to monitor state management and tracing in frameworks like LangGraph.

  • Balancing Innovation with Enterprise Security

Integrating cutting-edge agentic AI frameworks while maintaining strict enterprise security standards (like mTLS or API hardening) can create friction. Prepare by articulating how you balance rapid deployment cycles with rigorous security compliance.

  • Scalability Bottlenecks in Agentic Systems

As agent workloads grow, performance testing becomes increasingly difficult due to the distributed nature of A2A patterns. Prepare by discussing your approach to identifying latency bottlenecks in microservices or agent-based architectures.

Practice your answers

Technical practice

Implementing Model Context Protocol (MCP) Servers

What to coverExplain how you would manage the lifecycle of an MCP server. Discuss how you handle tool registration, resource exposure, and prompt management to ensure agents can effectively interact with external data sources.

Designing Agent-to-Agent (A2A) Communication

What to coverDescribe your approach to implementing agent discovery and task delegation patterns. Address how you ensure reliable communication between autonomous agents while maintaining clear boundaries and error handling.

Securing Agentic AI Workloads

What to coverHow would you implement OAuth 2.0 and SSO within an agentic platform architecture? Discuss the challenges of managing authentication flows for automated agents compared to traditional user-based sessions.

CI/CD for Agentic AI Infrastructure

What to coverDescribe your experience automating infrastructure deployment using Azure DevOps. Focus on how you ensure consistency and reliability when deploying agent workloads and their associated dependencies.

Performance Testing for AI APIs

What to coverWhat metrics do you prioritize when performance testing agentic APIs? Suggest methods for identifying bottlenecks in agent response times or communication overhead between services.

State Management in Agentic Systems

What to coverHow do you approach persistent memory or state management for agents? Discuss the trade-offs between different storage strategies for maintaining context across multi-step agent tasks.

API Security Hardening with Envoy and mTLS

What to coverExplain the role of Envoy Proxy in a microservices or agent-based architecture. Discuss how you would implement mTLS to secure service-to-service communication within the platform.

Troubleshooting Distributed Agent Workloads

Sharpen your knowledge

Topics to prepare

  • Model Context Protocol (MCP) Architecture

Understand the lifecycle of MCP servers, how they expose tools and resources, and how they manage prompts. Exercise: Create a simple MCP server that exposes a local file system tool to a client to practice server lifecycle management.
