About this role
MANTECH seeks a Data Scientist in Arlington, VA, to support a U.S. federal civilian agency responsible for human capital across the federal workforce. The role focuses on using workforce data to inform decisions, modernizing analytics and data products, and strengthening data governance, privacy, and security. This is a hybrid position with several days onsite per month as needed.
Responsibilities
- Develop, deploy, and maintain production machine-learning and NLP models that generate insights from large volumes of human-capital and workforce data.
- Build and modernize data products and pipelines to improve access, integration, and quality across legacy and cloud-based systems.
- Turn ambiguous policy and program questions into defined analytical work; collaborate with non-technical stakeholders and communicate actionable results.
- Contribute to a cloud-first Azure technology stack that meets federal security, privacy, and governance standards. Support the client’s data-science capability through pairing, code review, knowledge transfer, and reusable tooling.
Minimum qualifications:
- 2–3 years of experience developing, deploying, and maintaining large-scale ML models in production using real-world data; a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, data science, or a related quantitative field.
- Hands-on experience building and evaluating NLP-based ML models; strong Python skills for ML models and data pipelines; proficiency with VS Code, Git, and GitHub Copilot.
- Experience delivering data products in Agile teams and strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Preferred qualifications include experience with Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps, Azure OpenAI, or Azure AI Search; data science in federal or other regulated environments, including awareness of FedRAMP or FISMA; human-capital, workforce, survey, or administrative-record data; and MLOps practices for monitoring, retraining, and governing production models.
Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Public Trust clearance and have U.S. citizenship or other status meeting federal investigative requirements at hire. Projected compensation is $75,800.00–$127,000.00; benefits may include insurance, paid leave, retirement and savings, learning opportunities, and wellness programs, depending on position.
