Associate Engineer, AI Solutions

Reporting to the Leader, AI Transformation & Strategic Projects, the Associate Engineer, AI Solutions turns validated AI concepts into secure, supportable solutions for Think Education and Think Together. The role combines development and ongoing IT service support, working with business analysts, AI Champions, cybersecurity, architecture, platform owners and service teams.

Responsibilities

• Build, integrate, test, deploy, monitor and support production-ready AI agents, copilots, permission-aware RAG solutions and workflow automations. Connect them to organizational knowledge repositories and enterprise systems such as Teams and CRM.
• Apply context and harness engineering; develop orchestration, evaluation, guardrails, observability and feedback mechanisms. Test model quality, security, safety, reliability, performance, accessibility and cost, and document results, residual risks, release decisions and human-oversight requirements.
• Configure AI platforms, access controls and governance mechanisms. Implement source control, peer review, automated testing, deployment approvals, versioning and rollback. Monitor quality, availability, latency, cost, security events and drift; address incidents, vulnerabilities and model or vendor changes. Govern knowledge sources, permissions, freshness, retention and lineage, and plan recovery and fallback.
• Assess feasibility, architecture, effort, dependencies, operating costs and risks before pilots or production commitments. Document designs and operating procedures, provide or coordinate Tier 3 support, mentor AI Champions and technologists, train solution owners, and establish reusable development patterns.

Qualifications

• At least two years of relevant experience in software development, automation, data, integration, application support, cloud platforms or a related technical discipline, including production-system delivery or support. Relevant internal experience and a demonstrated portfolio may substitute for direct AI job experience.
• Demonstrated ability to build or configure a working automation, integration, agent, copilot or retrieval solution; connect it to an API, data source or enterprise system; and explain its testing, deployment, monitoring and support. Working knowledge of generative AI, prompt design, RAG, agent workflows, model limitations and human oversight is required, along with at least one of Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, PowerShell or SQL and applicable testing, security, privacy, accessibility and responsible AI practices.
• A related bachelor’s degree is preferred; an equivalent combination of experience, certifications, coursework and applied learning is accepted. Other preferred experience includes Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Teams, CRM, cloud AI services, CI/CD, observability, productionizing pilots, agentic workflows and mentoring non-technical practitioners.

The Santa Ana, California position requires 10–20% travel, reliable transportation, a Live Scan background check and a clear TB test throughout employment. Drivers using a vehicle for work must provide proof of a valid license and insurance. Targeted salary is $95,000–105,000; actual compensation may vary.
