Engineer, AI Applications Development

Develop and support AI-enabled business applications for White & Case’s Technology Applications Development team. The role uses Microsoft’s AI ecosystem and custom solutions within Microsoft 365 to improve processes and user productivity across the firm. It works with Senior AI Engineers, data scientists, the Innovation Team and business stakeholders, and reports to the Senior Manager, Applications Development.

Responsibilities

• Build, test and maintain applications and integrations using Azure AI Services, Azure AI Foundry, Azure OpenAI and other approved enterprise AI services. Develop Python and TypeScript code for backend services, automation and application enhancements, and connect internal systems through REST APIs and Microsoft Graph.
• Help design and optimize prompts, retrieval processes and AI service integrations. Support vector stores, search services and document repositories; test AI outputs for quality and consistency.
• Monitor performance, token consumption, API use, latency and throughput. Troubleshoot integration and production issues, investigate causes, and recommend improvements to reliability, speed and cost efficiency.
• Participate in requirements gathering, development, testing, deployment and production support in an agile environment. Maintain technical and deployment documentation; contribute to code reviews, CI/CD, automated testing and source control practices.

Qualifications

• A B.S. in Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience. The posting asks for 1–3 years of software development experience or relevant internships/co-op experience.

• Preferred: exposure to Azure OpenAI Service, Azure AI Foundry, Cognitive Services or other Microsoft AI technologies; knowledge of prompt engineering, LLMs, React, vector databases, RAG, embeddings, semantic search, CI/CD, DevOps, Microsoft Graph API or Power Platform.
