AI Agent Engineer

NTT DATA Services seeks a remote AI Agent Engineer to develop enterprise-grade AI agents for high-volume customer interactions in contact center and digital customer experience environments. The posting lists MA and describes compensation for U.S.-based remote positions.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, deploy, test, and version AI agents using code-first workflows. Develop conversation flows, knowledge retrieval, API integrations, and backend and frontend components.
  • Work with customer experience, product, client, and other stakeholders to translate business and customer needs into functional, technical, and experiential requirements.
  • Validate agent behavior through real-world scenarios, including edge cases and failure modes. Contribute to practices for agent architecture, prompt design, testing, deployment, and versioning.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of hands-on software engineering experience building and shipping production systems, plus experience in senior-level engineering roles and the ability to work independently across the development lifecycle.
  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent professional experience. Strong communication skills, including explaining technical concepts to nontechnical and executive audiences.
  • Strong React and TypeScript proficiency; experience with API-driven systems, authentication, permissions, and data access; familiarity with Git, branching, pull requests, CI/CD, terminal workflows, and modern developer tools.
  • Working knowledge of LLMs and prompt engineering, including evaluating and iterating on model behavior. Experience developing code-based conversational or autonomous agents, testing them with simulations and scenarios, and evaluating conversations. Understand customer support journeys, knowledge retrieval, backend integrations, and contact center concepts such as intents, escalation, agent assist, deflection, and customer satisfaction metrics.
  • Experience with customer-facing products; contact centers, CX platforms, or enterprise SaaS are identified as ideal. Experience building or deploying conversational AI using AI-Native or equivalent platforms is also requested.

Compensation and benefits: The stated starting range is $80–$85 per hour on W2, with actual pay dependent on location and qualifications.
