About this role
Traba is hiring a Staff Software Engineer (Applied AI) to put frontier models and existing AI agents into production across its industrial staffing marketplace. This is primarily a platform-engineering role: the engineer will build the backend services and foundational platform supporting automation of worker sourcing, vetting, matching, and placement across millions of shifts. Traba’s separate AI Agents team builds the agent platform; this role applies agents throughout the product rather than owning their orchestration internals.
Responsibilities
- Set the standard for applying agents across the stack and for the team’s use of AI-assisted development tools.
- Architect and lead core systems, including real-time matching and autonomous vetting pipelines powered by machine learning and agents.
- Own platform architecture, backend performance, reliability, and scalability; work across agent infrastructure, data, matching, and scaling priorities as needs change.
- Join the founding team, partner with the CTO on architectural decisions, and help shape the roadmap and platform for the coming years.
Qualifications
- Deep full-stack experience designing performant, scalable applications, with expertise in APIs, data modeling, query optimization, and distributed systems.
- 7+ years with TypeScript/Node.js or Python, PostgreSQL, and messaging systems such as Kafka or RabbitMQ. A record of shipping and leading projects at scale, learning across API design and deployment infrastructure, and navigating ambiguity in an early-stage environment is expected.
- Preferred: experience building or integrating AI or LLM systems in production.
The full-time position is listed in New York City, NY, or San Francisco. The stated salary range is $240,000–$300,000, with possible exceptions for substantially different qualifications; the listing also shows 0.13%–0.24% equity.
