About this role
Traba seeks a founding member of its Agents team to build the AI agents and underlying platform for industrial supply-chain workflows. The platform connects marketplace data with customers’ operational systems and enables agents to act within facility workflows. This role owns the agents, evaluations, and model strategy used by Traba’s Applied AI team.
Responsibilities
- Architect the agent platform end to end, including its orchestration runtime, evaluation and observability stack, integrations with internal and customer WMS, TMS, and ERP systems, and reusable agent-building patterns.
- Make foundational decisions about model providers and strategy, agent harnesses, retrieval and memory architecture, tool and MCP interfaces, and quality measurement. Build evaluation datasets, graders, regression suites, and experimentation tools; set standards for reliability, prompt versioning, and production observability.
- Work with customers and operators in the field to understand warehouse operations and turn those findings into durable product and repeatable deployment patterns. Hire and mentor engineers, and partner with the CTO, product, and operations leaders on the multi-year platform roadmap.
Requirements
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years of hands-on production work with LLM- or agent-based systems. Candidates must have owned a substantial production agent system encompassing orchestration, tool use, retrieval, evaluations, observability, and cost and latency tuning.
- Deep proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js; experience designing distributed systems, APIs, and PostgreSQL data models, plus modern messaging such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
- Background in a vertical AI or AI-agent company, forward-deployed engineering, or an AI-native data company. Experience leading 0-to-1 builds in early-stage environments and strong written, verbal, and customer-facing communication are required. Supply-chain, logistics, or industrial exposure is a bonus.
The position is listed in New York City, NY, and San Francisco. Compensation is $240,000–$300,000 per year, with stated equity of 0.13%–0.24%; exceptions to the salary range may be made for substantially different qualifications.
