About this role
Regeneron seeks a Manager, Applied AI for its Advanced Informatics team. The role supports organizational health data systems and analytical pipelines by designing and validating AI/ML solutions against complex health data and clinical ground truth. The manager works with applied AI leaders, clinical informaticists, data engineers, and production ML engineers to develop reusable analytical capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Translate clinical and business informatics challenges into defined AI/ML problems with clear success criteria.
- Build ML pipelines covering data ingestion, feature engineering, training, and evaluation in collaboration with production engineering. Run experiments, benchmarks, and ablation studies to assess performance and guide modeling decisions.
- Integrate models into informatics workflows; assess advances in foundation models, LLMs, and retrieval-augmented generation for biomedical and health data.
- Document findings for internal reports, publications, or conference presentations, and explain model behavior, limitations, and performance to technical and nontechnical colleagues.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Biomedical Informatics, Statistics, or a related field is required; a master’s or Ph.D. is strongly preferred. The posting specifies 4–6 years+ of progressive applied AI/ML experience and independent model development and evaluation; Ph.D. graduates with relevant research experience may be considered.
- Knowledge of supervised, unsupervised, and self-supervised learning, deep neural networks, and frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow. Strong Python skills with tools such as scikit-learn, Hugging Face Transformers, pandas, and NumPy.
- Experience designing and evaluating NLP or multimodal models, including LLM fine-tuning or prompt engineering; experiment tracking, model versioning, reproducible research, and cloud ML infrastructure.
- Experience with health or life sciences data; familiarity with medical terminologies and ontologies; published work or open-source contributions in applied ML, NLP, or computational biomedicine; experience with MLOps or production model observability; and familiarity with federated learning, privacy-preserving ML, or regulated data use agreements.
Location and compensation: Tarrytown or Armonk, New York, or Warren, New Jersey. The annual salary range is $150,500–$245,500. On-site expectations for this specific role should be confirmed with the recruiter and hiring manager.
