About this role
MITRE seeks an Intelligence Community (IC) AI analyst to help government sponsors turn developments in artificial intelligence into implementable policy, governance, strategy and senior-leader decision support. The role informs enterprise architecture and acquisition plans and assesses how AI advances may affect national security and public- and private-sector operations.
Responsibilities
- Analyze AI and data science concepts, including machine learning, deep learning, statistics, data preprocessing, model evaluation, optimization, cloud platforms and model deployment frameworks.
- Assess current AI capabilities against enterprise mission needs and operational priorities; support practical AI roadmaps, strategies and policies.
- Produce concise, technically accurate recommendations for senior government decision-makers and explain complex concepts to technical and nontechnical audiences.
- Liaise with government sponsors and industry leaders on collaboration and AI adoption. Advise on IC organizations and how they integrate AI into mission and operational environments.
Required qualifications
- A related bachelor’s degree with typically less than one year of related experience, or an equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- AI technical literacy, strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to contribute to a team.
- U.S. citizenship and an existing active Top Secret/SCI clearance with polygraph; candidates without the existing clearance cannot be considered. The requisition also states that the hired candidate must have or obtain this clearance within one year of hire.
Preferred qualifications include a degree in AI, computer science, data analytics or a related field; experience with an AI-focused government-sponsored program, senior leaders or an organizational front office; and the ability to develop enterprise AI policy, strategy, architecture and acquisition plans.
This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position listed in McLean, Virginia, and Bethesda, Maryland. MITRE designates it onsite and requires four days per week on-site. The stated annual salary figures are $97,600–$146,400, with a $122,000 midpoint.
