About this role

Vanguard seeks a Data Scientist, Specialist to lead the design, development, validation, and improvement of AI-powered simulations of client behavior, preferences, and decision-making. The role combines data science, behavioral science, marketing analytics, and generative AI to create digital representations of client segments and journeys. These capabilities help teams predict customer responses, improve marketing strategies, and accelerate experimentation.

Responsibilities

  • Build and enhance Digital Twins, simulation frameworks, and persona models that reflect customer behavior and decision-making.
  • Improve simulation fidelity, predictive accuracy, and business relevance through experimentation, validation, evaluation methods, and comparison with real-world outcomes.
  • Apply customer research, UX insights, behavioral science, and marketing analytics to human-centered AI models.
  • Develop and optimize LLM, RAG, and agentic AI solutions, including data preparation, prompt engineering, evaluation frameworks, and performance measurement.
  • Work with Product, Marketing, Analytics, UX Research, Data Engineering, and Technology teams to turn business problems into scalable AI and data science solutions. Present actionable findings to stakeholders and mentor junior data scientists and analysts.

Required qualifications

  • Minimum five years of experience in Data Science, Analytics, Machine Learning, Marketing Analytics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Demonstrated strength in at least one of two areas: analytics involving marketing, customer behavior, UX research, survey analysis, experimentation, or behavioral science; or applied AI/data science involving LLMs, agentic systems, prompt engineering, model fine-tuning, RAG architectures, and AI evaluation frameworks.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills; a solid foundation in statistics, machine learning, and experimental design; and the ability to communicate complex findings as business recommendations.

Preferred qualifications include experience simulating or predicting human behavior; building Digital Twins, synthetic personas, or synthetic customers; and validating AI predictions against real-world outcomes. An advanced degree in a related quantitative, computing, or behavioral field is preferred.

The role lists Dallas, Scottsdale, Charlotte, and Malvern as locations and a hybrid work model. Vanguard is not offering visa sponsorship for this position.
