About this role
Lenovo’s AI Technology Center seeks a technical and people leader for engineers and scientists building production agentic AI systems across devices, edge and cloud. The full-time role is hybrid, with three days per week in the Morrisville, North Carolina office.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team developing on-device, across-device and cloud agentic workflows. Set technical direction, prioritize work, coordinate globally distributed teams and deliver production-ready systems.
- Design and ship LLM agent pipelines using multi-step reasoning, tool use, reflection loops, long-horizon planning and memory. Build RAG systems, vector stores and external tool integrations.
- Develop evaluation frameworks for agent reliability and safety. Deploy and scale agent systems, translate relevant research into working products, and collaborate with AI engineers, ML scientists and technical product managers.
Required qualifications
- At least 6 years of industry experience in ML or applied AI, including hands-on LLM work in prompting, fine-tuning and inference optimization; at least 2 years of people management experience with at least 3 direct reports.
- Master’s degree in computer science, applied math, physics or a related field; NLP experience; proficiency in Python and at least one other programming language; experience with PyTorch, Hugging Face and vLLM or equivalent.
- Experience with agentic frameworks such as LangGraph, AutoGen or CrewAI, or custom frameworks; function calling, MCP, structured outputs and human-in-the-loop mechanisms. Knowledge of RAG, embeddings including multimodal embeddings, and LLM evaluation.
- Software engineering fundamentals, Git, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, communication with technical and business audiences, and Agile frameworks such as Scrum or Kanban.
Preferred
PhD, computer vision experience, Rust for performance-critical inference or runtime components, and collaboration with research institutions and contributions to open-source AI optimization libraries.
