About this role
AMN Healthcare seeks a hands-on AI Learning Architect to design, prototype and build its next-generation digital learning ecosystem. This individual contributor combines instructional design with practical AI engineering to create adaptive learning workflows, AI-supported content development and personalized training. The role works with subject matter experts, IT partners and the Learning team to turn technical requirements into scalable, interactive learning experiences.
Responsibilities
- Build, configure and maintain AI-powered learning modules, automated assessments and personalized training pipelines. Use prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation concepts and low-code or no-code automation to improve content creation and reduce manual work.
- Structure learning content and data for dynamic feedback and adaptive pathways. Evaluate and integrate generative AI design tools with learning management and learning experience platforms, recommending what to scale, adapt or retire.
- Track completion, learner experience and performance using xAPI or other learning metrics. Debug prompts, maintain content databases and keep solutions accurate and reliable as systems change.
- Incorporate privacy, disclosure, human review, accessibility and bias checks in partnership with IT, Legal and Compliance. Document solutions and coach other designers on the workflows built.
Required qualifications
- Three to five or more years of practical experience in instructional design, educational technology or a closely relevant tech-adjacent role, plus a portfolio demonstrating hands-on AI integration.
- Proficiency with generative AI models, complex prompt workflows, and low-code automation tools or APIs. Applied knowledge of adult learning approaches including ADDIE, SAM and cognitive load theory; ability to create accessible digital experiences and explain AI capabilities and limits to nontechnical audiences.
- Working knowledge of learning management or learning experience platforms and standards such as xAPI or SCORM. Ability to use automation and AI-enabled tools in line with company policies and responsible AI practices.
Preferred qualifications include implementing RAG, curating knowledge bases, building conversational or agent-based experiences, custom GPTs or copilots, and scripting or API integration with Python or JavaScript. Experience with Articulate 360, Rise, Camtasia or Synthesia, AI governance, WCAG 2.1 and inclusive design is also preferred.
The full-time position lists Dallas, TX and San Diego, CA. Work may be performed in an office or home office, with office attendance expected at a frequency dependent on the role’s work arrangement. The stated salary range is $101,000–$120,000; final pay depends on experience, training, education and location.
